The Selfish Altruist 7 Chris: Ukraine and Moldova, helping the helpers

Chris has volunteered 5 times and every time is a powerhouse who gets things done but on this occasion really was instrumental in setting up the new operation in Moldova.

We talk about how strange and frustrating it was to go and set something up but not actually distribute any aid. And how easy it is to share how you feel about the experienced with other volunteers but how hard it is to talk about to people on your return.

This is a really great conversation about how selfish it is to go and volunteer, how conflicted you can feel having such a rewarding time in the midst of such suffering and the emotional cost of that, which can also feel self-indulgent.
