Welcome to the Refugee Support Express
This week:
Keeping up with Katsikas
Volunteers who have previously visited Katsikas camp will, if they remember it all, think of the entrance to the camps’ free shop generally underwhelming. But not any more, for this week, the entrance has undergone a fabulous makeover.
With the help of residents, volunteers at Katsikas camp have made a creative start sprucing up the once bland entrance with a splash (or three) of colour!
We love to get creative at Refugee Support Europe, whether that’s through our approach to fundraising, running errands on camp, or exterior decorating; and we welcome you to come and get creative with us and join the Katsikas crew.
If you’re interested in volunteering in a refugee camp and would like to help Syrian refugees, contact us today. You can read about other volunteers and their refugee camp experiences here.
Stomp with us in solidarity
In just over a month’s time, a team of twenty of us will be stomping through the mountains of Macedonia to raise funds and awareness for the plight of refugees around Europe.
We now have a complete team and can no longer accept any applications for the trek. However, there’s still lot’s you can do from the sidelines of this walk to support refugees.
One of our walkers, Chris Goodson, has put together an incredible raffle to raise funds for refugees. The raffle prizes include an overnight stay and spa in a 5 star hotel in the centre of Bath; afternoon tea for two at a prestigious Warwickshire hotel; and dinner, bed an breakfast at a four star lakeside hotel.
Chris says: ‘I have supported Refugee Support on several occasions in Greece, and can guarantee that these funds are not only desperately needed, but effectively used.’
Raffle tickets can be purchased for £5 each, or five for £20 here.
Each walker has an ambitious fundraising target so please do what you can to support them and stomp in solidarity with them for refugees. You can find Chris and others’ fundraising pages some of their fundraising pages here on BT MyDonate.
Navigating Change
We warned friends and supporters of Refugee Support Europe to keep their eyes peeled for a surprise, and we’re excited to announce that the time has come for us to unveil a shiny new website!
‘The website is getting a facelift’, Paul Hutchins says, and he’s not wrong.
Thanks to digital agency Pragmatic, the website will be more accessible than ever, and returning visitors can look forward to a quicker load time that will allow them to help aid refugees with dignity faster than before.
The new website will go live next week. Let us know what you think and what you would like to see from us in the future.
Thank you for reading, and we’ll see you next time.
Please contact us today at info@refugeesupporteu.com if you are interested in volunteering, making a donation, or just want to get in touch.
