Round up 13 March

This week we bring you updates and news on the first distribution in Türkiye and the amazing fundraising feat by the Rock for Ukraine team, we welcome a new trustee and celebrate International Women’s Day!

First Distribution in Türkiye

Less than two weeks after arriving in Turkiye after the devastating earthquake, this week marks our first distribution of essential items.

The wonderful team in Türkiye have been working hard to prepare 300 packs of essential hygiene items for people who need them in the areas worst affected by the earthquake in Turkiye.

We are grateful for the hard work of Paula, Ibrahim, Hatim, Frin and Chris together with everyone who has donated to make this possible!

To continue providing this support to 5,000 of the people most affected by the earthquake we need to raise £20,000 by the 9th April and we’re so close to being half-way there!

By making a donation today, you can reach out and help people as they start rebuilding their lives

The tragedy is huge. But as a small organisation, we know that your caring gesture will be felt by the people here in Türkiye. More information is available here and on our JustGiving page.

Rock for Ukraine

Our financial planner friends once again rallied the community to mark the one year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine with a brilliant night of song, dance and auctioneering.

The fundraising total has now reached an amazing 50K!

Our work would not be possible without the amazing work of our supporters whose wonderful efforts to fundraise, spread the word and donate enables us to continue to support people every day in our centres in Moldova and Cyprus and now also on the ground in Türkiye.

New Trustee

We are also delighted to welcome the latest addition to our fantastic trustee team, Alison Behrens. She will be focusing on how we can better attract and support our most important resource – volunteers.

She will be strengthening our volunteer community, our marketing communications and our monitoring and evaluation programme. She replaces Bethan who really helped to take our volunteer operation to a new level and who we are really sorry to see go.

International Women’s Day

Last week we celebrated International Women’s Day and our wonderful team of female volunteers!

All five of our Coordinators are wonderful, strong women who lead our volunteers and 80% of them are also women. Here are some of them today:

Inspired to volunteer? All you need is a smile! We currently have volunteering opportunities at our centres in Cyprus and Moldova. All the information is here.
