Refugee Support Europe is marking World Refugee Day 2025 with a street party outside our Bournemouth Dignity Centre on Friday 20 June, celebrating this year’s Refugee Week theme: ‘Community as a Superpower.’
Taking place on Old Christchurch Road, the event will bring together members of the local community, including refugees & people seeking asylum, residents, volunteers and supporters for an afternoon of food, music, games and connection. Activities will also run inside the Dignity Centre, with highlights including film screenings and a table tennis tournament.
The film programme is part of a national collaboration between Counterpoints Arts and Other Cinemas, celebrating stories of migration, belonging and collective care. Visitors will be able to enjoy a curated selection of short films and features that explore how communities find strength and solidarity in the face of adversity.
Food will be provided in partnership with local business PizzAmore, alongside a selection of homecooked sharing dishes from around the world, collaboratively prepared by members of the Dignity Centre. Visitors can also snap photos with our selfie frame and pick up a copy of our Tastes & Tales cookbook – free for anyone who signs up to our newsletter on the day.
We’ll also be hosting a clothing donation drive throughout Refugee Week to support the centre’s ongoing work providing essential items to people who have recently arrived in the UK.
Everyone is welcome. Whether you’re a neighbour, a long-time supporter or curious to learn more – we’d love you to join us in celebrating the power of community.
