Celebrating Community and Solidarity in Bournemouth

February in Bournemouth was marked by vibrant events and heartfelt community engagement in support of refugees.

Increase the Peace Festival

We were thrilled to participate in the Increase the Peace festival, a vibrant event in Boscombe that celebrates unity through live music, poetry and street performances. Our team set up a stall featuring a selfie frame, and festival-goers posed for photos to  show their solidarity with refugees and people seeking asylum. What’s more, the event generously selected us as a recipient of their fundraising efforts! We are deeply grateful to the organisers and everyone who took part to show the power of community in bringing humanity and compassion to narratives around migration.

Valentine’s Day Action: Together With Refugees

On Valentine’s Day, we took part in a local action spearheaded by the Together With Refugees coalition to advocate for a dignified and compassionate approach to asylum. Local businesses displayed posters showing their support, and community members signed a collective Valentine’s Day card addressed to MP Jessica Toale. This initiative is part of the Fair Begins Here campaign, which calls for protection for those fleeing war and persecution, a fair and efficient asylum process, and support for refugees to rebuild their lives.

These events underscore the power of community collaboration in fostering a welcoming environment for all. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and look forward to continuing this vital work together.
