RS Express – Dignity Depends on Donations

Inspiring solidarity to raise funds for refugees

We recently spent a brilliant day with the lovely people of Refugee Aid From Taunton.

RAFT donated a van load of valuable items for Cyprus: their four-hundredth shipment to date!  The team then presented us with a donation of £2,420: the proceeds from the sale of some art created by the wonderful Gaye Fox. We love this grass roots solidarity! Thank you RAFT.

At Refugee Support, everything we do relies on the generosity of our donors, and self-funded volunteers. If you have any ideas for fundraiser that you would like us to assist you with, or you would like to make a donation, we’d love to hear from you!

John on tour

From the end of September until 23 October 2019, our co founder John will be touring the UK to discuss the worldwide refugee situation, and the work that Refugee Support Europe has done over the last three and a half years.

John is happy to talk to any group no matter how small. Please contact him by email john@refugeesupporteu.com or on Facebook messenger if you’d be interested in organising a talk.

Refugee Support movers and shakers

We hope you will help us wish a very warm welcome to our newest trustees, Emilia Bolin Ransom and Erin Leonard. They have both been tireless and lifelong campaigners for refugees and friends of Refugee Support since our earliest days. We are very lucky to have them as part of our team of trustees.

We’re also pleased to announce that the amazing Paula Mesureta has joined the volunteer team at The Dignity Centre Nicosia as our long term coordinator.

Paula has volunteered many times for Refugee Support Europe in Greece and brings a lot of experience to our team of volunteers in Cyprus. Paula has leapt into the rol job, and we know that she will make the Dignity Centre thrive.

Volunteer stories

‘An easy task for us went a long way to show them that people do care, despite the negativity they encounter along the way to rebuilding their lives.’

Our latest volunteer story focuses on Bethan’s time at Katsikas camp. If you’re interested in volunteering at a refugee camp this year, have a browse through our volunteer stories for more details of what sort of aid we offer at Refugee Support.

Refugee stories

‘Last year I decided to make a farm around my container, and other people started to do the same. My family didn’t need extra vegetables, I did it for something to do.’

Check out these lovely words from Khan (pictured below) about how he’s created a beautiful allotment on camp, despite the tough life that is living on a refugee camp. Khan’s garden is beautiful and has inspired many others to connect with nature, and to find some solace and normality in the soil.
