RS Express – Come Together For Refugees

THURSDAY 1 NOVEMBER 2018

THIS WEEK:

VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER

As our third birthday approaches, we are hoping to organise a get-together for volunteers to celebrate and plan for the future together.

It’s been an incredible three years for Refugee Support. During this time, we’ve received input from over 700 fantastic volunteers.

What we want to do is organise a weekend of workshops and laughter. Our volunteers have been at the forefront of our progression over the years, and we want to use these workshops to discuss how we can move forward together.

Our plan for the event so far is to host this meetup in the Midlands (UK) in February. The idea is we will book a hotel for the Saturday night, when we will have a dinner and a few drinks. We will start our workshops early Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning.

We’d love to know what you think and if you’d be able to attend.

To our many volunteers outside of the UK, we’d also be interested to hear if enough of you would be interested in a meetup outside of the UK. Get it touch with us and let us know what you think.

DONATE TO REFUGEES

We’ve started distributing winter clothes to the kids at Katsikas camp.

Many people don’t realise that it can get very cold in Greece at night, despite it being a Mediterranean country. It’s important to make sure that we can help the children with warm coats to keep them healthy and protected during the coming winter months.

Last year, we asked for donations to purchase clothing from a local wholesaler in Greece. We asked for monetary donations last year as opposed to clothes donations, as the cost of purchasing clothes local to the camps was not only more time and cost effective than shipping used clothes but helped support the Greek economy. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide clothing to keep everyone warm.

If you’d like to raise money for refugees, please make a donation here today.

EMERGENT BERLIN

Our good friend Natty will be speaking next week at the Emergent Berlin Project Presentation and Workshop Night about her time volunteering at Katsikas camp.

If you’re in Berlin on Friday 9 November, do join her for the session and get involved.

Thank you for reading, and we’ll see you next week.

Please contact us today at info@refugeesupporteu.com if you’d like to donate to refugees.
